The FY09 Education Grant deadline is August 15. 2008 for submitting proposals for up to $4.7 million of competitive education funding for workforce development, GED and higher education projects in Virginia's Tobacco Region. Instructions and application materials can be found at the bottom of this page.
Staff would be pleased to discuss any project ideas you have for this year's competition. We encourage you to use our
pre-application as an optional tool for feedback prior to submitting a full application. We also encourage you to review the Commission's Strategic Plan - in particular, the section on "Building Human Infrastructure."
The anticipated schedule once applications are submitted is as follows:
- Staff recommendations to be published on or near October 3
- Education Committee meeting October 15 at location to be announced
- Full Commission meeting October 30 at location to be announced to act on Committee recommendations
