FY09 Southside Economic Grant Cycle
The Southside Economic Development Committee met and approved a new schedule to receive and act on economic development project proposals. Grant applications from local governments and nonprofits for projects that create new jobs and attract private capital investment in Southside localities will be due on Monday, September 15, 2008, with final Commission approval tentatively scheduled for October 30, 2008. Southside Economic Development funds are made available for projects according to a formula for the distribution of funds within certain localities. A total of $12 million in FY09 grant funds is available, in addition to more than $15 million of funds carried-forward from previous grant cycles.
Proposals must be submitted to the Commission on the FY09 Economic Development Grant Guidelines and Application. Funds that are not applied for and/or awarded will carry-forward and be available during a tentatively planned second round to be announced in 2009.
